AWS Solutions Architecture
Architectural judgement on AWS - reading a requirement, availability math, the storage and compute decisions, designing for regional failure, scale, threat and budget, then migration and five reference architectures.
AWS Solutions Architecture
Every other course in this track teaches what the services do. This one teaches the judgement - how to look at a requirement and produce an architecture you can defend.
Method, then choices, then constraints, then applied:
- The architect's method - how to read a requirement and turn it into an architecture, the Well-Architected review used as a working method rather than a checklist, and availability math that shows what 99.9% actually costs
- Choosing correctly - the consistency and durability guarantees AWS publishes, the seven-way storage decision, and the compute decision seen as a question about scaling shape
- Designing for constraints - regional failure, the four bottlenecks that limit scale, defence in depth, and architecture designed to a budget
- Applied architecture - migration through the seven Rs, and five reference architectures worked end to end
The course argues positions rather than surveying options. Shard last. Cells before multi-region. Identity over network. Design for 10x, not 100x. Rehost does not save money. Each of those is defended from the constraints it follows from, so you can apply the reasoning when your constraints differ.
Module 1 is free to preview. The full course is a one-time purchase with lifetime access.
What you will learn
- Turn a vague requirement into an architecture, and say why each decision follows from a constraint
- Use the Well-Architected framework as a working method instead of an audit checklist
- Do the availability math and price what each additional nine really costs
- Choose storage and compute from published guarantees and scaling shape, not from familiarity
- Design for regional failure, and know why cells usually come before multi-region
- Find the four bottlenecks that actually limit scale, and design for 10x rather than 100x
- Build defence in depth and architect deliberately to a budget
- Plan a migration with the seven Rs, and read five complete reference architectures
Prerequisites
- Solid AWS fundamentals - you should recognise the major services and what they are for
- Some experience designing or operating a non-trivial system
- Helpful to have taken the Core Services or Developer course first, though not required
